Brandon Sheppard finishes fifth in Wild West Shootout point's chase
On Friday, Sheppard’s eight-lap heat race win promoted him into the redraw. Pulling the second-starting position, Brandon faded back to a 13th-place outing in the 30-lap affair.
After pulling off on the opening lap of his heat race on Saturday, Sheppard locked his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with a second-place finish in his B-Main. Moving up six positions in the 40-lap affair, Brandon recorded a 12th-place finish.
During the same night behind the wheel of a Ramirez Motorsports No. 4B Modified, Brandon followed up a fifth-place finish in his heat with a B-Main victory. Starting the feature in 17th, Sheppard advanced through the field 12 spots in the 25-lapper to place fifth. He trailed Rodney Sanders, Tyler Peterson, Tanner Mullens, and Bumper Jones to the checkers.
For the finale on Sunday, Sheppard secured his spot into the $25,000-to-win A-Main with a second-place finish in his heat. Rolling off eighth, Brandon was caught behind a tangle in the final 10 circuits that ended his night early. He was credited with a 13th-place finish.
In the Modified ranks, Brandon came in second in his heat before placing second in the 25-lap feature. He followed Rodney Sanders across the line with Dereck Ramirez rounding out the podium.
