Rocket 1 Racing attends Show-Me 100 weekend at Wheatland
Preps for Historic 100 at West Virginia Motor Speedway
SHINNSTON, W.Va. (05/31/22) – Rocket1 Racing and Brandon Sheppard took part in the 30th annual Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 over the weekend in their Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Ace Metal Works / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.
While the opening round of the scheduled three-race weekend fell victim to weather, Sheppard finished 11th on Friday night and 12th on Saturday night.
“Obviously we had higher hopes for the weekend than what we were able to accomplish, but all things considered it was a decent weekend for us,” Sheppard said. “The track threw us all a curveball on Friday after all of the rain on Thursday, and then Saturday we just weren’t able to get rolling in the feature. Lucas Oil Speedway has always been a kind of tricky place for me, but we’ll take what we learned there this weekend and be better the next time.”
Rocket1 Racing and Brandon Sheppard were in action at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday afternoon for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson after Mother Nature axed Thursday’s Cowboy’s Classic.
Drawing a stout field of 63 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries for the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Sheppard stopped the clock third-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat race. Rolling off 11th for the A-Main, Brandon carried a steady pace in the 30-lapper to finish 11th.
With Friday’s finish placing him on the sixth row for Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Show-Me 100 finale, Brandon raced just outside the Top 10 for much of the 100-lap affair before ultimately crossing the finish line in 12th.
Brandon continues to lead the latest LOLMDS point standings.

Brandon’s upcoming race week will begin on Wednesday at Tri-City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Ill.) with the $22,022-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event in his family-owned No. B5 XR1 Rocket Chassis, while the Rocket1 Racing team are back in West Virginia preparing for the weekend’s Historic 100 at West Virginia Motor Speedway (Mineral Wells W.V.). The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) doubleheader posts a $15,000 winner’s check for Friday’s event and a $50,000 top prize on Saturday.
