Top-five finish with World of Outlaws at Paducah
Back in action on a Wednesday, Brandon Sheppard unloaded his Sheppard Riggs Racing No. B5 Late Model at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for the seventh round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries.
Racing his way into the $23,023-to-win A-Main with a consolation victory after finishing fifth in his heat, Sheppard improved six positions in the 50-lapper to register an 11th-place finish.
With the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series on Thursday at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) for the Farmer City Showdown, Brandon topped the 27-car field in time trials before placing second in his heat. Chasing a $10,000 payday in the feature, Sheppard made up ground in the final five circuits to finish ninth.
For another $10,000 WoO event on Friday at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.), Sheppard followed up a fifth-place finish in his heat with a B-Main win. Wheeling his way into the top-10 in the feature, Brandon passed eight cars to place 10th.
The tripleheader weekend with the World of Outlaws concluded on Saturday at Paducah International Raceway (Paducah, Ky.) with Sheppard qualifying for the $15,000-to-win USA World 100 feature via a fourth-place finish in his heat. Climbing into the top-five, Brandon steered forward six positions to cross the line in fifth. He chased Brian Shirley, Kyle Bronson, Chris Madden, and Nick Hoffman to the checkers.
Brandon is seventh in the latest WoO point standings.
