BShepp on World of Outlaws podium at Ponderosa
After competing with the XR Super Series on Monday, Brandon Sheppard trekked to Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Ky.) on Friday to pilot his Sheppard Riggs Racing No. B5 Late Model for the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series-sanctioned Johnny Mulligan Classic.
With the field split into two groups for time trials, Sheppard topped his 16-car group with a 12.895-second lap before placing first in his heat. Chasing a $10,000 payday in the feature, Brandon ran as high as second before ultimately finishing third in the 50-lapper. He chased Mike Marlar and Bobby Pierce to the checkers with Chris Madden and Tanner English rounding out the podium.
Saturday’s scheduled Hoosier Dirt Classic at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) fell to wet weather.
Brandon sits sixth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
