Brandon Sheppard visits Batesville for Topless 100 weekend
Brandon Sheppard returned to the driver’s seat of the Sheppard Riggs Racing No. B5 Late Model on Friday afternoon at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) for the 41st running of the Comp Cams Topless 100 weekend.
Drawing 64 Late Models for the two-day event co-sanctioned by Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS), Sheppard backed up a fifth-place finish in his heat with a fourth-to-second run in his B-Main. With $5,000 on the line in Friday’s prelim, Brandon advanced forward seven spots in the 30-lap affair to finish 15th.
Locked on the eighth row for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win Comp Cams Topless 100 finale, Brandon rallied to finish 21st after slowing to bring out a caution on lap 27 while running 12th.
