Brandon Sheppard
13th-place finish in World Finals finale, third in WoO standings
Sheppard Riggs Racing and Brandon Sheppard made the trek to The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) over the weekend to wrap up the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series season with 17th running of the World Finals.
With a pair of time trial sessions on Wednesday setting the grid for heat races on Thursday and Friday, Sheppard followed up the 17th-fastest time in his first session with the fifth-fastest lap in his group in the second round.
Buried by his qualifying effort for Thursday’s program, Brandon recorded a pair of seventh-place finishes in his heat and B-Main, forcing him to use a provisional into the feature. With $15,000 on the line, Sheppard salvaged a 21st-place finish from the back.
Relying on a provisional again into Friday’s main event, Sheppard muscled forward six positions in the 35-lapper to finish 19th.
On Saturday, Brandon had to rely on a provisional into the $25,000-to-win World Finals finale after missing a transfer spot by one car in his consolation race. Nearly wheeling his way into the top-10, Sheppard passed 12 cars in the 50-lap affair to register a 13th-place finish.
Brandon finished third in the final World of Outlaws point standings.
