Eighth-place finish in C.J. Rayburn Memorial at Brownstown
Brandon Sheppard entered his Sheppard Riggs Racing No. B5 Late Model into battle with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Friday for the doubleheader at Brownstown (IN) Speedway.
With Friday’s C.J. Rayburn Memorial kicking off the 45th annual Jackson 100 weekend, Sheppard laid down the third-fastest time in his group before placing second in his heat. Chasing a $10,000 preliminary payday in the feature, Brandon steered to an eighth-place finish.
On Saturday, Brandon raced into the $50,000-to-win Jackson 100 with a third-place finish in his heat race. Rolling off on the ninth row, Sheppard was an early retiree from the 100-lap affair on lap 75 with a flat right-rear tire.
